The federal government has announced a nationwide public holiday on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 1447 AH).

The Cabinet Division issued the notification following the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), is celebrated across Pakistan and many countries worldwide with deep religious devotion.

Traditionally, the day begins with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals, followed by special prayers after Fajr in mosques for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, as well as for Pakistan’s prosperity and security.

Throughout the day, religious conferences, processions, and Mehfil-e-Milad gatherings are held to pay homage to the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), described as a beacon of guidance for all humanity.

On this occasion, streets, mosques, government buildings, and homes are illuminated with decorative lights, creating a festive atmosphere across the country.
