Veteran actor Anwar Ali laid to rest in Lahore
The funeral prayers of veteran stage, television and film actor Anwar Ali were offered at Jamia Masjid, Model Town Link Road, Lahore, on Tuesday.
The funeral prayers were led by actor Jawad Waseem and attended by a large number of artists and colleagues, including Sohail Ahmed, Tariq Anjum, Iftikhar Thakur, Ashraf Khan, and Javed Rizvi.
Anwar Ali, 75, passed away on Sunday night after a prolonged illness.
He had been suffering from lung and kidney complications and had been under treatment in hospitals for the past three months.
His condition worsened over the weekend, and he died at a hospital on Raiwind Road.
Widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most talented comedians and character actors, Anwar Ali won fame with his performances in popular dramas such as “Ababeel”, “Home Sweet Home”, and “Andhera Ujala”.
He was admired for his sharp wit, unique acting style, and memorable comic timing.
Colleagues paid rich tributes, saying the industry had lost a legend whose void could never be filled.
“He inspired us all, and there was always something to learn from him,” said one of his fellow actors.
Anwar Ali is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
