NDMA issues rain alert for Islamabad and Punjab over next 24 hours
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a rain alert for Islamabad and several districts of Punjab, warning of possible heavy showers over the next 12 to 24 hours.
According to the alert, rainfall is expected in Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, and Sargodha, as well as in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, and Multan.
Rainfall is also forecast for Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and other parts of the province during the same period.
NDMA cautioned that fresh rains may aggravate the situation in already flood-affected areas of Punjab. Citizens have been advised to stay away from rivers, streams, and drainage channels.
The authority further directed all concerned departments to take precautionary measures to minimise risks and ensure public safety.
