Govt contacts PTI leaders, urges reversal of resignations for NA committees
Amid the collective resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) members from the standing committees of the National Assembly, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has approached opposition members.
Fazal conveyed the government’s proposal to reach a mutual agreement with the opposition.
He contacted the PTI Chairman and Chip Whip in the National Assembly to convince them to reverse their resignations from the standing committees.
“The prevailing national situation demands collective efforts,” the minister reportedly told the opposition, stressing that both sides could work together on issues of national importance.
According to the sources, the government has urged the opposition to reconsider their decision and withdraw resignations, as the committees’ work has been stalled due to the move. The government has advised the opposition to sit down for talks to resolve the impasse.
