PTI lawmakers boycott NA session as 28 more members resign from committees
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmakers have continued submitting their resignations from the National Assembly’s (NA) standing committees as 28 more members have forwarded their resignations to the Speaker’s Office on Tuesday.
The total count has surged to 47 after the latest resignations by PTI members.
At least six members have also resigned from the chairmanship of the NA standing committees, including Junaid Akbar and Amir Dogar.
Boycott
Lawmakers of the PTI on Tuesday boycotted the National Assembly session.
The lower house met under Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to discuss the devastation caused by recent floods in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
However, PTI members walked out of the assembly session in protest against government policies. They also raised slogans demanding the release of the PTI founder.
PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, Barrister Gohar, and Aamir Dogar walked out of the parliament in protest along with other party members.
Speaking outside the parliament, Barrister Gohar said that their rights in the parliament have been taken away, which is why they have set up a “People’s Assembly”.
