PM Shehbaz to meet world leaders in Beijing for high-level talks

Meetings with Putin, other leaders to highlight Pakistan’s regional diplomacy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Tuesday, in addition to holding meetings with other world leaders.

The prime minister arrived in the Chinese capital from Tianjin on Monday night via bullet train, after attending the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the SCO Plus meeting.

During his visit, he will also meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon to discuss matters of bilateral and international importance.

His agenda also includes a visit to a local hospital in Beijing and an interaction with prominent Chinese business leaders.

While in Tianjin, the prime minister addressed the SCO Council of Heads of State and the SCO Plus meetings.

He also held bilateral talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

In Beijing, Prime Minister Shehbaz is also expected to meet Chinese Premier Li Qiang to discuss the multifaceted dimensions of Pakistan-China bilateral cooperation.

Additionally, he will attend a military parade alongside President Xi and other world leaders, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
