In the third match of the tri-nation T20 series hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Afghanistan beat the hosts by 38 runs.

After taking his third wicket, Afghanistan Captain Rashid Khan became the highest wicket-taker in the shortest format of Cricket, surpassing former Kiwi pacer Tim Southee.

The UAE won the toss and invited Afghanistan to bat first.

Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal made half-centuries for the Afghan side, as the former smashed 63 runs while the latter scored 54 runs.

Muhammad Rohid and Saghir Khan took two wickets apiece for the UAE as Afghanistan managed to put a total of 188 runs on the scoreboard in the allotted overs at the loss of four wickets.

While chasing the target, the UAE fell short of 38 runs even after the 63-run innings by Captain Muhammad Waseem, including six maximums and a resilient 55-run knock by Rahul Chopra.

They could only reach the mark of 150 runs after losing eight wickets in twenty overs.

After losing Waseem, the host nation couldn’t manage to build any partnership to keep the momentum and sustain the innings.

Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan and Sharafuddin Ashraf grabbed three wickets each. Ashraf took a crucial wicket of the Emirates’ captain to break his partnership with Chopra.

Winners of today’s match will take on Pakistan tomorrow in the fourth match of the series.
