In response to the devastating floods, the Wildlife Department of Punjab has launched an emergency operation to rescue affected animals, following the special directive of the Chief Minister.

Wildlife rescue teams are now equipped with specialized ambulances and veterinary doctors, establishing veterinary camps in flooded areas to provide medical care for injured animals.

Among the successful rescues, a pair of deer swept away by floodwaters and crossing the border have been safely retrieved.

In Narowal, a wounded and pregnant female deer received urgent medical attention, while a young male deer was rescued in Shakargarh.

Additionally, four deer were rescued during various operations in Muridke, Wazirabad, and Mandi Bahauddin, bringing the total to seven deer saved so far.

Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb emphasised that the lives of animals are equally valuable to human lives, highlighting that wildlife suffers the most during floods.

She reaffirmed the Punjab government’s moral and constitutional obligation to protect these animals.

In a statement from Lahore, Aurangzeb noted that all relevant departments are collaborating under the Chief Minister’s guidance. She assured the public that updates on the wildlife rescue operations in the affected districts will be provided at every stage.

Aurangzeb reiterated the importance of safeguarding wildlife heritage for future generations, stating that protecting animals during natural disasters is a key responsibility of the Punjab government.
