F-16 fighter jet crashes during Aerobatic maneuver in Poland
A Polish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed during a rehearsel for an airshow in Radom, central Poland.
The military report stated that the crash resulted in the death of pilot.
Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz paid tribute to the officer stating “a Polish Army pilot died in the crash of an F-16 aircraft an officer who always served his country with dedication and great courage”.
The General Command of Armed Forces confirmed that the accident involved an aircraft from 31st Tactical Air Base near Poznan, emphasising that no bystanders were injured.
According to the statement, “rescue operations were immediately initiated at the scene”.
Footage from Polish media captured the F-16 performing a barrel roll maneuver before crashing and erupting in flames as it skidded on the ground.
Reports indicate that the aircraft struck the runway around 1730GMT, causing damage and leading to the cancellation of the Random Airshow scheduled for the weekend.
