An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday sent Shershah, son of Aleema Khan and nephew of PTI founder Imran Khan, to jail on judicial remand in the Jinnah House attack case.

During the hearing, the court dismissed the police request for further physical remand, ruling that Shershah be sent to jail.

The prosecution told the court that a stick had been recovered from the suspect, and further recovery of his mobile phone, gas mask, and social media account details was pending.

Shershah’s counsel argued that his arrest, made 27 months after the incident, was unlawful and politically motivated.

After hearing both sides, the court announced its reserved decision, turning down the prosecution’s request for extended custody.

Speaking outside the court, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja criticised the prosecution’s stance, saying, “They suddenly remembered a gas mask after 27 months. This exposes the weakness of the case.”

Raja also clarified that Aleema Khan had already addressed reports of family rifts, stressing, “We share a brother-sister bond; there are no differences.”

On politics, he reiterated PTI’s decision not to participate in Punjab’s upcoming by-elections, calling them “artificial polls aimed at strengthening a fake assembly.”

The Sarwar Road police had earlier registered a case against Shershah in connection with the May 9 Jinnah House attack.

Later, a bail petition was filed in ATC on behalf of Shershah, requesting the court to order his release.

The petition maintains that Shershah was arrested on political grounds and that no evidence exists against him.
