ECC approves transfer of captive power levy relief to consumers
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Tuesday approved the transfer of captive power levy benefits to ordinary electricity consumers, a move aimed at providing some relief to the public.
The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, was attended by ministers Awais Leghari, Ali Pervez Malik, and Rana Tanveer.
The ECC also approved the immediate release of Rs3.81 billion out of Rs11 billion for Pakistan Television (PTV), while directing the state broadcaster to gradually reduce budget dependence and work towards self-sufficiency.
In another decision, the committee approved a settlement framework for the recovery of petroleum levy from Cnergyico PK Limited, and reviewed tariffs for the Machike-Thallian Tarrujabba White Oil Pipeline project, which is expected to further strengthen Pakistan-Azerbaijan trade ties.
Additionally, the ECC approved a Rs3 billion relief package for flood victims in Gilgit-Baltistan. The funds will be used for tents, medicines, food, and the restoration of damaged infrastructure.
