CTD arrests close aide of outlawed BLA militant in major operation
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested Mir Khan Mohammad, a close aide of banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militant Dr Usman Qazi, during a major operation against the group’s network “Fitna al-Hindustan.”
According to sources, Mir Khan Mohammad, who earned a law degree from the International Islamic University before becoming a prosecutor inspector in Balochistan, has long been involved in facilitating terrorists and engaging in anti-state activities.
Investigators said the suspect has already confessed to involvement in more than a dozen terrorist incidents. Interrogation is underway to gather further details about his role in the militant network.
It may be recalled that in the last week of July, intelligence agencies received information that terrorists from the banned group “Fitna al-Hindustan” were planning attacks in Quetta and other districts of the province from early August.
In response, security agencies devised a strategy to foil the plots.
On August 11, security forces arrested a suicide bomber in Quetta who, during initial questioning, revealed that he had been prepared for the attack by Dr Usman Qazi, a professor at BUITEMS University.
Following the bomber’s confession, law enforcement agencies arrested Dr Usman Qazi from Afnaan Town.
