Wang Yi, Field Marshal Asim Munir reinforce Pakistan-China strategic ties

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Pakistan, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on discussions around regional security, counter-terrorism cooperation, and other mutual interests.

Both parties emphasised their dedication to further strengthening their all-weather strategic partnership and enhancing collaboration on regional and international platforms.

The ISPR reported that Wang Yi assured his unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development. Field Marshal Munir expressed gratitude for China’s continuous cooperation, concluding the meeting with a mutual commitment to fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Additionally, it was agreed that both countries would continue their joint efforts to promote regional harmony and growth.

In a related engagement, Wang Yi had met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif the previous day at the Prime Minister’s House. During this meeting, Sharif expressed appreciation for China’s steadfast support, affirming Pakistan’s commitment to backing China on core issues.

The Prime Minister also reiterated his dedication to enhancing Pakistan-China cooperation and praised the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Earlier, the Chinese foreign minister held discussions with Asif Ali Zardari at the President’s House, focusing on bilateral cooperation and regional security.

The President of Pakistan emphasized the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, calling them “iron brothers” and “tested friends,” and highlighted that their partnership is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy, enjoying broad support across public, political, and institutional spheres.
