The Sindh Workers Welfare Board has initiated a program to distribute 10,000 free electric motorcycles to women industrial workers, as announced by provincial Labor Minister Shahid Thaheem.

Registration for the motorcycles is now open on the board’s official website, www.wwbsindh.gov.pk. Eligible applicants include women aged 20 to 45 who are employed in the industrial sector, with a 20 percent quota reserved for minorities.

According to Thaheem, applications will be processed through a digital balloting system to ensure transparency and eliminate human interference. Successful applicants will have 60 days to obtain a driving license.

Thaheem emphasised that the initiative aims to empower women, highlighting their importance to Pakistan’s development.

“The country cannot progress without their development,” he stated, adding that the scheme is intended to provide women with safe and dignified transportation.

The minister also noted that the inclusion of minorities in the project acknowledges their contributions and sacrifices.
