At least seven injured in Karachi building collapse
At least seven people were injured after a three-storey building collapsed in Karachi’s Orangi Town area on Wednesday.
According to rescue officials, all the injured have been pulled out from the rubble. One of the victims sustained severe burn injuries.
The SSP West stated that initial investigations suggest a possible gas leak inside the building.
The collapse reportedly occurred when a fan switch was turned on, triggering an explosion that brought the structure down.
Police said further investigation is underway. The Bomb Disposal Squad and Crime Scene Unit have also been called in to assist in investigations.
Karachi Commissioner Tariq Mastooi said the building was in a dilapidated condition and housed the office of a political party, although no one was residing there permanently.
