Flooded streets delay power supply restoration: K-Electric
The K-Electric has announced that power restoration work in city areas is facing difficulties in view of flooded streets after Tuesday’s unprecedented rains.
In a statement, Sadia Dada, Chief Distribution and Marketing Officer of K-Electric, stated that after the heavy and exceptional monsoon rains, the streets in the city have become submerged.
Due to the accumulation of water on many roads, K-Electric teams are facing severe difficulties in mobility, the statement said. Electric supply in the affected areas will be restored once the water starts receding, it added.
The K-Electric official advised citizens to be cautious while using electric items to avoid any untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, K-Electric has issued a warning to residents to be vigilant when using electrical appliances during the rainy weather.
A spokesperson for the power utility highlighted that the unsafe use of electrical equipment, such as water pumps, poses significant risks in rainy conditions or near standing water.
Residents are advised to maintain a safe distance from TV and internet cables, broken wires, and other electrical installations, the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson cautioned that illegal electricity connections, commonly referred to as “kundas,” could lead to fatal accidents.
As a precaution, power supply may be temporarily suspended in low-lying areas experiencing water accumulation, the official added.
