The Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has sentenced four additional members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for their involvement in the November 26 protest case.

On Tuesday, Judge Amjad Ali Shah presided over the proceedings, during which the defendants Javed Iqbal, Khan Muhammad, Sardar Khan, and Amir Khan were each sentenced to four months in prison. The case was registered at the Injra Police Station in Attock District.

The defendants confessed to the charges in court, prompting Judge Amjad Ali Shah to issue show-cause notices. Prosecutor Syed Zahir Shah outlined the allegations, stating that the accused attacked police and state property, violating state orders and disrupting public peace.

The accused did not contest the charges, admitting their participation in the protests and riots at the encouragement of their leaders. They pleaded for leniency, citing their financial hardships, and the court directed that the time spent in custody be included in their sentences.

With this latest ruling, the total number of individuals sentenced in connection with the November protests has reached 113.

Notably, on November 26, 2024, a protest march led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur allegedly led to disturbances in Islamabad amid a visit by the President of Belarus.

During the clashes with security forces, two Rangers personnel were killed, and dozens of police officers were injured. The PTI claimed that some of its own workers also died, though conflicting reports emerged. After the leaders left the protest, it was subsequently called off.

In the aftermath of the PTI’s protest in Islamabad, numerous cases under anti-terrorism and other charges have been filed against party founder Imran Khan, former First Lady Bushra Bibi, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and hundreds of other party leaders and supporters across various police stations in the federal capital and Rawalpindi.

These cases relate to the November 26 protests and violent demonstrations, registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act, with allegations of damage to public and private property and blocking roads with gatherings.
