K-Electric has issued a warning to residents to be vigilant when using electrical appliances during the ongoing rainy weather and strong winds affecting Karachi.

A spokesperson for the power utility highlighted that the unsafe use of electrical equipment, such as water pumps, poses significant risks in rainy conditions or near standing water.

Residents are advised to maintain a safe distance from TV and internet cables, broken wires, and other electrical installations. The spokesperson further cautioned that illegal electricity connections, commonly referred to as “kundas,” could lead to fatal accidents.

As a precaution, power supply may be temporarily suspended in low-lying areas experiencing water accumulation. K-Electric confirmed it is actively monitoring the situation, with field staff on high alert to ensure public safety and respond to emergencies.

Heavy rainfall swept through parts of Karachi on Tuesday morning, providing much-needed relief from the humid weather.

The light showers that began overnight intensified into heavy rainfall by early morning, affecting areas such as Tariq Road, Azizabad, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Boat Basin, Liaquatabad, and North Nazimabad, among others.

Additional areas experiencing torrential rain include Clifton, Defence, Qayyumabad, Shahrah-e-Faisal, and several neighborhoods in Malir, Landhi, and Korangi.

North Nazimabad and nearby regions also reported thunderstorms accompanied by intense showers.
