PCB expands player contracts to 30 for 2025-26 session
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed the central contracts for national players for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Notably, the A category has been eliminated in the new contracts, which will take effect from July 1, until June 30, 2026.
Sources indicate that prominent players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi have been downgraded, with three new players added to the B category.
In total, 30 players have been awarded contracts this year, an increase from 27 last year, with 12 new faces included.
The new players are Ahmad Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza, and Sufiyan Maqeem.
Nine players successfully retained their previous categories, while eight players did not secure contracts.
In the B category, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Saeem Ayub, and Salman Ali Agha have been included.
The C category features Abdullah Shafique, Naseem Shah, Saud Shakeel, Faheem Ashraf, Sajid Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Sahibzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz, and Nauman Ali.
Lastly, in the D category, players include Shan Masood, Hussain Talat, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Wasim Junior, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Khushdil Shah, Ahmad Daniyal, Salman Mirza, Khurram Shehzad, and Sufiyan Maqeem.
