Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on an official visit to China in the last week of August to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, sources said on Monday.

During the visit, the premier is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

Key engagements of the prime minister include talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to sources, discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing mutual cooperation, and reviewing regional and global developments.

The prime minister is also expected to interact with other international leaders attending the forum.

Leaders from more than 20 countries and heads of 10 international organisations will attend the SCO summit.

The SCO summit is scheduled to be held from August 31 to September 1.

The SCO summit provides a key platform for Pakistan to deepen its strategic partnerships and expand its role in regional economic and security cooperation.
