Quetta: Police arrest three ‘Fitna Al Hindustan’ terrorists, including PhD professor
The Balochistan Police have foiled a major terror plot by arresting three members of the “Fitna Al Hindustan” terror group, including a PhD professor of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS).
The suspects were plotting attacks during Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.
According to security sources, intelligence reports in late July revealed that militants were planning a series of terrorist attacks in Quetta and other districts of Balochistan starting in early August.
On August 11, security forces apprehended a suicide bomber in Quetta, who disclosed during interrogation that he had been prepared for the attack by BUITEMS professor Dr Usman Qazi.
A raid was also conducted in Afnaan Town, where Dr Qazi was arrested. Another bomber was also captured based on his lead.
The detained militant confessed to working for the banned BLA’s Majeed Brigade, tasked with training young men as suicide bombers.
He also admitted to facilitating the November 9, 2024, suicide attack at Quetta Railway Station and preparing additional bombers for planned assaults on security forces and Independence Day gatherings.
