NDMA issues travel alert for northern areas amid floods and landslides
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a new alert regarding road conditions in the northern regions of the country due to floods and landslides.
According to the authority, Somroo Bridge, Ghanche, Saltoro Bridge and Baghicha Skardu Bridge in Gilgit-Baltistan have been severely damaged, due to which traffic has been suspended. Citizens have been advised to completely avoid travelling to the affected areas.
The authority said that the Jaglot-Skardu road is completely closed, while the routes to Diyan, Thali Broq and Kulti are also affected, due to which travel is not possible.
Similarly, Jaglot, Goro and Naltar roads are also closed due to landslides.

Traffic has also been suspended on the Gulmit and Gojal roads in Hunza, while instructions have been issued to avoid travel on the Babusar Top road.
The NDMA further warned that there is also a high risk of flooding and landslides on roads in Torghar, Battagram, Shangla, Lower Kohistan, Tatta Pani, Gilgit, Hunza and Swat.
Authorities have urged travellers to use alternative routes and avoid unnecessary travel.
It may be recalled that cloudbursts and flash floods have wreaked havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent days, killing 313 people and injuring 156 others, while dozens of homes and connecting roads were also severely damaged.
