The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing major changes to its central contracts for the 2025-26 season, with performance set as the key criterion.

Sources confirm that several underperforming players are likely to be dropped, while new and promising talent is expected to be included.

Consultations over the upcoming contracts have entered their final phase, with PCB coaches, directors and the finance department conducting detailed reviews.

Players who have failed to secure a consistent place across formats will not be retained.

According to insiders, Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Sufyan Muqeem, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf and Fakhar Zaman are strong contenders for inclusion.

The names of Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz and Sahibzada Farhan are also under discussion.

On the other hand, Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Huraira, Haseebullah, Usman Khan and Mohammad Ali are facing slim chances of securing spots.

The upcoming contracts mark the final year of PCB’s three-year financial model. The final list will be formally announced once it receives approval from the PCB chairman.
