The son and daughter of Mufti Kifayatullah, the district chief of the Jamiat-ul-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), were killed while Mufti Kifayatullah and his wife sustained bullet injuries in an armed attack at their house in the Batkhela area of Malakand on Saturday.

The condition of Mufti Kifayatullah’s wife is serious, Levies sources said, adding that the shooting was carried out by Mufti Kifayatullah’s other son, who fled the scene after the incident.

The bodies of the deceased and the injured were transferred to the DHQ Hospital in Batkhela.

According to hospital sources, Mufti Kifayatullah’s condition is now out of danger.

Police and Levies forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to arrest the suspect.
