PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhry shifted to hospital after condition deteriorates
Senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Ijaz Chaudhry was shifted to the hospital on Wednesday after his health deteriorated in jail.
According to his lawyer Rana Mudassar advocate, Ijaz Chaudhry is suffering from a kidney infection that is causing him severe pain. Seven gallstones have also been found in his gallbladder.
In view of his condition, jail authorities immediately transferred Ijaz Chaudhry to the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) in Lahore.
The lawyer said that Ijaz Chaudhry has lost 22 kilograms of weight so far, and various medical tests are being conducted at the hospital. PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhry is in Kot Lakhpat Jail in connection with his involvement in the May 9 cases.
On July 22, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore sentenced PTI leaders Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Ijaz Chaudhry and Sarfaraz Cheema to 10 years in prison each in the Sherpao Bridge arson case, while acquitting Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other accused.
