Islamabad residents to enjoy extended weekend with holiday on August 13
The Islamabad administration has announced a public holiday on August 13 in preparation for the Independence day on August 14.
All government and private institutions in the federal capital will be closed on both days. There will be exception of administrative and emergency services, allowing citizens to enjoy two day holiday.
The notification has been issued for the holiday on August 13 for the public convenience. The notification exempts the offices of essential services, including MCI, CDA and ICT administrative offices. Apart from this, there will also be no holiday in the police, IESCO, SNGPL and hospitals.
On the other hand, four days are expected across the country in the month of August on the occasion of Independence Day. According to the notification of Cabinet Division, August 14 will be public holiday for the Independence Day across Pakistan.
Additionally, Chehlum Imam Hussain, which falls on Friday, August 15, is not included in the federal holidays.
A local holiday for Chehlum may be declared in the relevant areas at provincial level. In this case, the holiday from August 14 till August 17 are combined together.
