Ryan Reynolds sparks rumours of Deadpool merging with Avengers
Ryan Reynolds has fuelled fresh speculations about Deadpool potentially joining the Avengers after posting an image that combines the Avenger’s “A” with the anarchist’s “A” on social media.
The Deadpool and Wolverine star offered no captions, but the visual has sparked fans’ curiosity, interpreting that it is a possible role in upcoming films like Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
This tease comes at a time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is seeking to revitalise its box office performance following a lukewarm reception for Fantastic Four and concerns regarding its post-Endgame trajectory.
Marvel chief Kevin Feige is expected to introduce major characters to reinvigorate the franchise, and Reynolds’ Deadpool could bring the wild energy needed.
Deadpool & Wolverine have already established connections that could facilitate a crossover, incorporating TVA elements, time jumps, and Deadpool’s intent to break MCU rules.
With recent leaks from Avengers: Doomsday suggesting the inclusion of TVA agents, the links between these films appear even stronger, making Deadpool an ideal fit for the multiverse chaos of Phase 6.
Industry buzz indicates that Avengers: Doomsday will feature multiple timelines, variants, and a sizable ensemble of legacy characters from Fox, Sony, and earlier MCU projects, making Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking humour and unpredictability a natural addition.
While Reynolds is rumoured to appear alongside Hugh Jackman in the 2027 Secret Wars, there has been no official confirmation.
Although there are no immediate plans for Deadpool 4, Reynolds has hinted at other projects, such as an adaptation of Uncanny X-Force.
A role in the Avengers would keep Deadpool active in the cinematic landscape without necessitating another solo film.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
In a recent interview with Time Magazine, Reynolds expressed his desire for Deadpool to become a recurring supporting character in future Marvel films.
Known for his irreverent and unpredictable persona, Deadpool has captivated audiences, thanks in large part to Reynolds’ bold portrayal.
The actor acknowledged that the character’s popularity fuels his ambition to integrate Deadpool into more Marvel storylines, even if he is not always in the lead role.
