Independence Day rehearsals: Islamabad airport to halt flights
Flight operations at Islamabad International Airport will be temporarily suspended on select days due to Independence Day parade rehearsals.
According to the Pakistan Airport Authority, Islamabad Airport will experience temporary flight suspension on select days.
According to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the authority, arrivals and departures will be suspended on August 11, 12, and 13 from 8pm to 10pm.
Airlines have been directed not to schedule any flights during these hours.
The NOTAM also covers additional suspension days earlier in the month.
Flight operations will be halted on August 11 to 14 for varying durations to accommodate parade practice.
In these eight days, a special daytime suspension will take place between 11am and 1pm.
Passengers have been advised to check schedules. Authorities have advised travellers to confirm their flight timings in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Airlines are expected to adjust schedules and notify passengers of any changes.
The temporary suspensions are part of the security and logistical preparations for Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day celebrations, which will be held with full ceremonial display in the federal capital.
