Foreign woman injured in shooting over property dispute in Karachi

Suspect Danish goes into hiding after securing interim bail as police investigation continues

A Filipino woman who travelled from Japan to Karachi to claim her late husband’s inheritance was shot and injured by her brother-in-law in Malir’s Millat Garden, police and the victim said on Friday.

The woman, identified as Delia Alberto Nasir, arrived in Karachi with her children on August 3.

She said she had come to take possession of a property in Millat Garden belonging to her late husband.

According to police, her brother-in-law, identified as Danish, opened fire on her during the dispute, hitting her in the leg and chest.

The suspect later obtained pre-arrest bail and has since gone into hiding.

The Saudabad police have registered a case, and an investigation is under way.

Speaking to Aaj News, Delia appealed for justice, saying, “I came from Japan to claim my property in Milllat Garden, but my brother-in-law shot me instead.”
