NA confirms Omar Ayub’s removal as Opposition Leader
The National Assembly Secretariat has officially notified the removal of Omar Ayub from his position as Leader of the Opposition, declaring the post vacant.
Following this decision, the Speaker of the National Assembly is expected to issue a notification for the appointment of a new Opposition Leader shortly.
In addition to Ayub’s removal, other significant parliamentary positions held by PTI members have also been revoked.
Zartaj Gul has been removed as Parliamentary Leader and Ahmed Chatha has been stripped of his role as Deputy Parliamentary Leader. The chamber designated for the Opposition Leader has also been vacated.
Independent PTI members have been instructed to propose new candidates for the positions of Parliamentary Leader and Deputy Parliamentary Leader.
Furthermore, Omar Ayub has been delisted from both the Public Accounts Committee and the Finance Committee.
Additionally, the membership of 15 standing committees has been withdrawn from seven PTI members deemed ineligible.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza has lost his chairmanship of the Standing Committee on Human Rights, Zartaj Gul has been removed from the same committee, and Rai Hassan Nawaz has been stripped of his chairmanship of the Standing Committee on Railways.
