Security sources reject misleading claims about terrorism in Bajaur
Security forces have dismissed claims circulating about terrorist elements and their facilitators in Bajaur as misleading.
According to security sources, the narrative regarding alleged talks between tribes and outsiders is actually a systematic effort aimed at distorting the ground realities and obscuring the state’s stance.
They further stated that a large number of whom are Afghans, “Kharijites”, are involved in terrorist and criminal activities in different areas of Bajaur by hiding among the local population.
In response to the situation, security officials and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, including the Chief Minister, have recently clarified a three-point position after consulting with the tribes:
-
Tribal elders have been asked to expel these outsiders themselves.
-
If this is not possible, then vacate the area for a day or two so that security forces can bring the terrorists to their end.
-
If these two options are not taken, state institutions will take action anyway and the tribes have been asked to protect themselves from harm as much as possible.
Sources also emphasised that there is no room for government negotiations at any level with the foreigners and their facilitators unless they unconditionally accept state sovereignty.
The tribal jirga is actually a logical and responsible step by the state to ensure public safety. Both Islam and the state do not allow any kind of concession or understanding with extremists like the Kharijites.
According to security sources, the courageous values of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa do not support such weakness. The state is clear in this matter that the authority for armed action lies only with it and action against terrorists will continue at all costs.
