The Sindh Cabinet has assigned the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur to conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), to improve transparency in the examination process.

This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, following reports of irregularities in the previous year’s MDCAT exams.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s office, the new policy will be applied equally to both public and private medical and dental colleges, with the Sindh Department of Health overseeing the entire process.

This move comes as part of efforts to ensure a fair and transparent admission procedure for students across the province.

Official statistics show that there are 2,550 MBBS and 500 BDS seats available in government medical colleges in Sindh, while private colleges offer 1,441 MBBS and 2,025 dental seats.

The chief minister emphasized that the policy change was necessary due to reports of irregularities in last year’s MDCAT exams.

He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government is committed to taking serious steps to improve the quality of education in the province.

With this decision, the MDCAT exams for all medical and dental college admissions across Sindh will now be conducted under the supervision of IBA Sukkur, which is expected to enhance transparency and impartiality in the examination process.
