HEC launches ‘Pakistan Digital Leap’ to transform higher education
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has launched the groundbreaking “Pakistan Digital Leap” event, marking a significant advancement in the digital transformation of the country’s higher education sector.
During the event, TMC Pvt Ltd was acknowledged for its pivotal role in digitizing 25 universities through its advanced Maktab ERP-SLCS and Al-Fihri Learning Management System (LMS) platforms.
The gathering brought together vice chancellors, corporate leaders, and key education stakeholders to witness the unveiling of cutting-edge digital infrastructure aimed at enhancing the educational experience for millions of students.
This initiative, managed under HEC’s flagship Higher Education Development Program (HEDP) in collaboration with the World Bank, is set to benefit over 6 million students across the nation.
In a historic first for Pakistan, HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad hosted the event as a holographic figure, symbolizing the innovative spirit driving this transformation.
He emphasized, “We have provided essential technological support to the universities and students of Pakistan. With these technologies, our students can now compete with top-ranked universities globally, while universities can reduce costs and improve efficiency.”
Abdul Haseeb, CEO and Managing Director of TMC, expressed pride in contributing to a future where quality education is accessible and efficient. He described the partnership with HEC and the World Bank as a milestone in modernizing Pakistan’s higher education landscape with locally developed, globally competitive solutions.
TMC’s deployment of Maktab ERP-SLCS and Al-Fihri LMS equips universities with integrated systems for administration, learning management, and digital communication.
These solutions streamline academic operations, covering admissions, course registration, examinations, and student records.
The Al-Fihri LMS, named after Fatima Al-Fihri the founder of the world’s oldest operational university offers personalized, cloud-enabled learning accessible from any device, enhancing scalability and inclusion across multiple campuses.
This initiative aligns with HEC’s vision of establishing a national digital education ecosystem, which includes 7,000 km of fiber connectivity, 20,000 Wi-Fi points across 96 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), and smart classroom infrastructure, all aimed at providing students with world-class educational resources.
