Pakistan, Iran ministers vow to deepen defence ties

Ministers reaffirm commitment to regional stability, counter-terrorism efforts

Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier-General Aziz Nasserzadeh met Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in Islamabad on Saturday during which they discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, counter-terrorism, and defence cooperation.

According to a defence ministry spokesperson, the two ministers reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting peace and stability in the region.

Khawaja Asif emphasised the importance of defence diplomacy to address common security challenges.

The Iranian Defence Minister thanked the Pakistan government for the warm welcome. Aziz Nasserzadeh reiterated Iran’s desire to build strong defence relations based on mutual respect, shared values, and trust.

According to the defence ministry spokesperson, the meeting concluded on a positive note, with both defence ministers pledging to continue working together to strengthen Pakistan-Iran defence relations and the prosperity and security of the region.
