Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is expected to arrive in Islamabad on Monday for a three-day official visit, his first since November 2021, leading a high-level delegation for crucial talks with Pakistan’s top leadership.

According to official sources, Muttaqi will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and other senior government officials during his stay.

The visit comes at a time when both countries are seeking to reset ties amid growing concerns over border security, regional trade, and cross-border connectivity.

Key agenda items include strengthening bilateral relations, addressing security concerns, enhancing land connectivity, and expanding economic cooperation. Notably, both sides are expected to sign a preferential trade agreement during the visit, aimed at boosting commerce on a priority basis.

Officials say the agreement is part of broader efforts to revive structured engagement between Islamabad and Kabul, especially as trade routes through land borders become increasingly vital for regional stability.
