Car recovered ten days after flash flood in Rawalpindi
Rescue teams in Rawalpindi have recovered a car that was swept away in a flash flood ten days ago in a tragic incident that unfolded in Phase 5 of a private housing society.
The vehicle was pulled out from a stormwater drain near Kak Pul, but the young daughter of Ishaq Qazi, who was also in the car, remains missing.
According to details, the incident occurred on July 22 when Ishaq Qazi and his daughter left their home but were caught in heavy rains. A sudden surge in the water level of a nearby drain caused their vehicle to be washed away.
On July 23, rescue teams found parts of the car, including the bonnet and bumper, while Ishaq Qazi’s body was recovered a day later on July 24.
Rescue officials stated that operations to locate and retrieve the car had been ongoing for several days and were finally successful.

However, the search for the young girl continues, with authorities expressing hope for progress in the coming days. The bereaved family has expressed gratitude for the relentless efforts of the rescue teams.
Officials have renewed their appeal to the public to stay away from stormwater drains during the monsoon season. They added that the opening of Rawal Dam’s spillways had significantly increased water levels in the Soan River, complicating rescue efforts. Nearly a dozen rescue workers were involved in the operation.
