Hammad Azhar to seek protective bail from Peshawar High Court
Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Hammad Azhar has refused to surrender to the police in the May 9 cases and decided to approach courts for legal remedy.
According to sources, after consulting his legal team, the PTI leader has decided to first seek protective bail from the Peshawar High Court and later approach the relevant courts for legal proceedings in his cases.
More than 50 cases have been registered against Hammad Azhar in various cities, including Lahore, Faisalabad and Islamabad.
He has also been declared a proclaimed offender in many cases and is wanted by the police.
The sources said that Hammad Azhar gathered complete record of the cases against him, while his legal team has finalised preparations to file a protective bail application.
The PTI leader is expected to appear before the Peshawar High Court soon to secure bail.
It may be recalled that Hammad Azhar had been in hiding for the past two years and had been sought by security agencies following the violent incidents of May 9.
After the death of his father, he indicated his intention to end his hiding and approach the courts. Now he has decided to take the legal route instead of directly surrendering to authorities.
