PTI nominates Mashal Yousafzai for KP Senate by-election
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has officially nominated Mashal Yousafzai for the Senate by-election on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa women’s seat.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan issued a notification and confirmed the decision made on the instructions of the founder.
The senate by-election is scheduled for July 31 in Khyber PakhtunKhwa.
The candidates for upcoming by-elections can submit their nomination papers until August 11.
The party has instructed other candidates for the women’s seat Sajida Begum, Momina Basit, Sameera Shams and Samina Khalid to withdraw their candidates by the end of the day.
On the other hand, the election commission has disqualified Abdul latif Chitrali, the National Assembly member from the NA-1 Chitral constituency, under the Article 63(1)(h) of the constitution due to his conviction related to May 9 incidents. Consequently, the NA-1 Chitral seat has been declared vacant.
The Election Commission has also announced by election dates for additional constituencies.
The by-election for the Senate seat vacated by Ijaz Chaudhry, as well as for Ahmed Khan Bhachar (PP-87, Mianwali) and Ahmed Chatha (NA-66, wazirabad), will take place on September 18.
Ijaz received 10 years prison sentence from the Anti- terrorism Court (ATC). It led to his disqualification.
Both Ahmed Khan Bhachar and Ahmed Chatha’s have also been convicted by court.
