Following the announcement of the date for the Pakistan-India match in the upcoming Asia Cup, social media in India has been flooded with strong criticism.

According to Indian media, the Pakistan-India match cannot be postponed as it is not a bilateral series. Instead, it is part of a multinational tournament.

If India refuses or backs out of the match, it will be directly beneficial for Pakistan.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has supported the Pakistan-India match.

In a statement, he said what happened in Pahalgam was devastating and it should not have happened. Though terrorism should end, it should not stop the game. It has been an incident of the past.

Ganguly further stated that it is all right for India and Pakistan to be in the same group in the Asia Cup. Fans will once again see the competition between the arch-rivals.

According to the tournament schedule, it is possible that Pakistan and India may face each other twice or thrice.

Asia Cup will commence from September 9, and Pakistan-India’s first group match will take place on September 14.
