Finance Minister Aurangzeb heads to US for key trade talks

Significant progress expected in Pak-US trade dialogue during visit

Amid expectations of significant progress in the trade dialogue, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday left for the United States to complete the Pakistan-US trade negotiations.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Finance said that final discussions on the Pakistan-US trade negotiations will take place during the visit.

The formation of a trade agreement will benefit the economies of both countries, it added.

The ministry further stated that strong trade and economic relations are an important pillar of Pakistan-US bilateral relations.

The US is Pakistan’s largest trading partner, and Pakistan is keen to expand bilateral trade relations beyond traditional sectors.

The statement highlighted that there are vast opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in key sectors such as information technology (IT), minerals, and agriculture.

According to the finance ministry, Aurangzeb’s visit to the United States is an important step towards strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries.
