The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has forecast the fifth spell of monsoon rains to begin across most districts of the province from today’s evening, expected to last until July 31.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, widespread rainfall is likely in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Rawalpindi, and Murree, along with other parts of the province.

Rain is also expected in Galiyat, Attock, Gujrat, Jhelum, and Gujranwala. Southern districts, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Multan, are also likely to receive downpours.

PDMA Director General has also issued a flood alert for rivers and streams across Punjab.

There is a risk of rising water levels in the Ravi, Jhelum, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers due to persistent rainfall.

The PDMA also warned that the upper regions of Punjab’s rivers may experience unusually high water flow.

Moderate flooding has been reported at Taunsa on the Indus River, while low-level flooding is ongoing at Tarbela, Kalabagh, and Chashma.

Citizens have been advised to stay away from rivers, canals, and water channels and to take precautionary measures as the rainfall intensifies in the coming days.
