Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has issued a formal notification setting the new official price of sugar across the city.

According to the notification on Sunday, the wholesale price of sugar has been fixed at Rs170 per kg and the retail price at Rs173 per kg.

All wholesalers, retailers and department stores have been instructed to ensure full compliance with the new official prices.

The commissioner warned that strict legal action would be taken against those who violated the orders.

The notification asked all sugar vendors to prominently display the price list at their shops to inform consumers about the prices and to discourage illegal profiteering.
