In a major development, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has finally given the green signal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), paving the way for the Indian cricket team to play matches in Pakistan.

According to Indian media, there is a strong possibility that an official schedule of the event will be released within the next 48 hours.

The Asia Cup will be held from September 8 to 28 this year, with a group stage and then a Super Four stage.

Eight teams will participate in the event, including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Hong Kong.

According to Indian media, there were some differences between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, which have now been resolved amicably, after which major obstacles to the tournament plan have been removed.

According to sources, the United Arab Emirates has emerged as a strong candidate to host the Asia Cup.

The UAE is being considered a politically neutral venue due to its modern infrastructure and extensive experience in hosting cricket events.

According to Indian media, the BCCI is in the final stages of preparing its internal schedule, and preparations are underway at a fast pace after the Indian team received the diplomatic nod.

The annual meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was held in Dhaka on July 24, in which several key decisions regarding the Asia Cup were formally taken.

The meeting was chaired by ACC President and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Representatives from 25 member countries attended the meeting, some of whom participated online.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said that discussions with India regarding the schedule were ongoing and it was hoped that the final dates would be announced soon.

He added that the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and all member countries agreed to keep cricket separate from politics.

“We have all agreed to work in unity for the promotion of cricket in Asia,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

Although the date and venue for the much-anticipated Pakistan-India match have not been announced yet, cricket fans are hoping to hear good news soon.

Mohsin Naqvi appealed to fans to wait for the official announcement, details would be revealed soon.
