Ishaq Dar, Marco Rubio hold constructive meeting to strengthen Pak-US ties
In a meeting in Washington, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rubio described the meeting as “useful” and “constructive”.
This meeting was focused in detail for the promotion of bilateral trade, increasing cooperation in the mineral sector, counter-terrorism and regional stability. Dar was given a grand welcome upon his arrival at the US State Department headquarters.
In the meeting they also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in various sectors including technology, agriculture and investment. Senior officials participated from both sides. In this meeting, Pakistan’s ambassador to US was also present in the meeting.
During the discussion, Dar commended the US leadership, especially of US president Donald Trump for global peace. He further described his role during Pakistan- India war as “commendable”.
In the meeting Rubio recognized Pakistan’s ongoing sacrifices in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
He also emphasized the country’s positive and responsible contributions to global and regional peace.
Both countries agreed to further enhance cooperation for the upcoming counter-terrorism dialogue, and to explore practical steps to enhance bilateral economic partnership.
The meeting is being described as the beginning of a new and positive chapter in Pak-US relations.
