Foreign minister highlights Pakistan’s potential as attractive destination for US businesses

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington D.C., on Friday. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing economic cooperation, and addressing regional security challenges.

The high-level talks were held at the US State Department. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, also accompanied the Deputy Prime Minister during the meeting.

This in-person engagement followed a prior telephonic conversation between the two leaders. Senior officials from both sides were present during the delegation-level discussions.

Key areas of cooperation discussed included trade, investment, agriculture, technology, and mineral resources. Deputy Prime Minister Dar appreciated the peace efforts by President Trump and the US leadership, while Secretary Rubio acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and lauded its constructive role in promoting regional peace.

Senator Dar highlighted Pakistan’s potential as an attractive destination for US businesses and expressed optimism over progress in the ongoing US-Pakistan Trade Dialogue. He also emphasised the important role of the Pakistani diaspora in the United States in strengthening bilateral ties.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening engagement and expanding cooperation across diverse sectors.
