Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sons – Suleman and Qasim – are set to visit Pakistan soon, party leaders and Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan have confirmed.

The two sons are coming to Pakistan to meet their father, and legal channels in this regard are being used to ensure the meeting.

According to a private TV channel, Aleema Khan, Barrister Ali Zafar and Salman Akram Raja told the media on Thursday that a petition is being filed in the Islamabad High Court for the two sons to meet their father.

According to the lawyers, the details of the arrival and stay of the two sons cannot be disclosed at present.

Aleema Khan said that Imran Khan’s sons are coming to meet their father. A petition is being filed to ensure the meeting is held, and nobody can create hurdles by demanding legal papers in this regard. The sons will stay here as long as they want, she added.

Aleema Khan stressed that it is Salman and Qasim’s constitutional right to meet their father, and she wants to ensure no legal obstacles prevent the meeting.

She said that a petition seeking permission for the meeting can be filed in the high court at any time.

Qureshi leadership ruled out

Speaking on the occasion, senior PTI leader Salman Akram Raja clarified that Shah Mehmood Qureshi is not leading the party, nor has there been any formal decision taken in this regard.

“It is just an assumption that Shah Mehmood Qureshi will lead the party, this is incorrect. The leader of the party is only Imran Khan,” he stated.

Salman Akram Raja said that currently, eight to nine cases were pending against Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and he remains arrested in these cases.

He said while Qureshi’s official position in the party is intact, the claims of his leadership are just baseless rumours.

Fake news about leadership

Salman Akram Raja reiterated that Imran Khan is the real and only leader of the party, and in his presence, no other person has the authority to take over the reins of the party.

Salman Akram Raja said that false news is being deliberately spread about the PTI leadership to create confusion among workers, but we want to make it clear that Imran Khan remains the soul and central figure of the party.

Violation of court orders

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Ali Zafar and Salman Akram Raja also questioned the court proceedings and said that despite being present outside the jail since 10am, they were not allowed to meet the founder.

Salman Akram Raja said that there were clear orders from the Islamabad High Court that lawyers and family members could join the court proceedings, but the trial is still being kept secret.

He alleged that the media and lawyers were being kept out of the court proceedings, and obstacles were also being created in meeting the PTI founder, which is a clear violation of the constitution.

Media, lawyers kept in the dark

Raising questions about the trial, Barrister Ali Zafar said that witnesses are appearing, cross-examination is taking place, but lawyers, family, and the media are being kept out, which is not only undemocratic but also illegal.

Aleema Khan once again termed the Toshakhana II case unlawful, saying we do not know what is happening inside, but we stand with our brother Imran Khan.

“These people cannot intimidate us, we will stand with Imran Khan until the last moment,” she added.
