Long march case: Arrest warrant issued for Imran Ismail
The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for former Sindh governor Imran Ismail in the PTI’s long march vandalism case.
The court also ordered authorities to arrest and produce Imran Ismail before it.
The development came during a hearing in a case related to vandalism during the PTI long march, involving Imran Ismail and other co-accused. Imran Ismail did not appear in court during the hearing.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan issued the warrants and directed the police to arrest and present Imran Ismail before the court.
A case had been registered against the former governor at Bara Kahu Police Station in Islamabad on vandalism charges.
The hearing of the case against Imran Ismail is scheduled to continue tomorrow (July 24).
It is worth noting that PTI founder Imran Khan, party leader Zartaj Gul, and several others have already been acquitted in the same case.
It should be recalled that in the wake of the PTI long march that concluded in Islamabad in May 2022, police across the country had registered dozens of cases against PTI leaders and workers for violating Section 144 and other crimes.
The Islamabad police had registered at least three cases against PTI leaders and workers for resisting law enforcers and damaging state property.
The charges included setting metro bus stations on fire.
