Two people, a father and his daughter, died after their car was swept away in a storm drain in a tragic incident in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The incident happened in a private society of Rawalpindi where witnesses said the car driver tried to drive through drain despite the strong current. However, the water flow was so strong that it swept the car away.

Later, rescue teams reached the spot and launched operations to search for the missing people.

Officials said that the strong flow of the drain and the high water level were hampering the rescue efforts.

On the other hand, a motorcyclist who was swept away in a drain in the Dhamial Hayal area of Rawalpindi has been found.

Rescue teams pulled the victim out of the drain and shifted him to the hospital in critical condition, where he is being provided medical assistance.

The Meteorological Department has forecast more rain in the next 24 hours and instructed the relevant agencies to stay alert.

Residents have been urged to take precautionary measures and stay away from storm drains.
