Continuous rainfall since last night has triggered landslides in several parts of Kotli district and surrounding areas in Azad Kashmir, leading to the temporary closure of multiple local roads for traffic.

According to the district administration, the roads that have been closed include Kakni Bagah Road (Tehsil Kotli), Dhanan Lift Stop Road (Tehsil Khoi Ratta), Rahiyan to Kotli Road (Tehsil Kotli) and Goi to Dandli Road (Tehsil Kotli).

The Highways Department has dispatched machinery to all the affected areas and work is underway to restore the roads as soon as possible.

The administration has further informed that due to the rain, severe flooding has occurred in rivers, streams and rain water channels across the district, which may cause loss of life and property.

Citizens have been strictly advised to avoid going near streams, streams and fast-flowing water, avoid unnecessary travel and keep children away from such places. In case of any emergency, an appeal has been made to immediately contact the district control room or rescue agencies.

The Kotli district administration has appealed to the citizens for cooperation and said that caution is the best protection.
