PTI’s Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed elected senators in KP Assembly
Vote counting ended in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly after polling was held for 11 Senate seats on Monday.
According to unconfirmed, unofficial results, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed and Noorul Haq Qadri were elected as senators on general seats.
Murad Saeed secured 26 votes, Faisal Javed 22, and Noorul Haq Qadri got 21 votes in the election held in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
PTI’s Azam Swati won on a technocrat seat by obtaining 89 votes. Niaz Ahmed, son of PML-N leader Amir Muqam, also reached the Upper House on a general seat.

PTI’s Mirza Afridi also secured victory by polling 21 votes. PPP’s Talha Mahmood won by securing 17 votes.
PTI’s Rubina Naz was elected senator on a women’s seat after getting 89 votes, while PPP’s Rubina Khalid was elected senator after securing 52 votes, according to unconfirmed, unofficial results.
JUI-F’s Dilawar Khan also won the election for the Upper House after securing 54 votes.
A total of 25 candidates took part in the election for 11 Senate seats.
Opposition Leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr Ibadullah, congratulated the allies on their success.
He said efforts would be made in the future as well to try to prevent horse trading in elections.
Dr Ibadullah said that the elected members will raise their voice for the province’s rights.
He congratulated the newly elected senators and hoped they would fully represent the province in the Upper House.
